Hospice Care at Davis Place was founded on the commitment to provide comfort and the best quality of life to those with life-limiting illness and their families. We consider it a privilege to support you during this chapter.

What Hospice Care Looks Like

The word “hospice” often fills patients and their families with trepidation due to a lack of understanding or experience. Hospice care is for those for whom a cure or treatment is no longer part of the medical plan; our goal is to manage pain and uncomfortable symptoms, administer medication, and acquire any supportive equipment and supplies to make you as comfortable as possible.

Individuals with advanced terminal illnesses deserve respect, dignity, and the freedom to spend their remaining time without pain and in the company of those they love. Our compassionate hospice team is available to answer questions, give guidance, and be a resource where needed. Otherwise, we make space for the patient, and their families to do what is best for them.

There is no set time limit for hospice. Though it is typically offered to patients who have received a prognosis of less than six months, hospice care can sometimes extend longer or be much shorter in duration.

Hospice Care supports those with conditions that include
(but are not limited to):

  • Stage IV cancer
  • Advanced dementia
  • End-stage COPD
  • AIDS
  • ALS
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Stroke
  • Respiratory/pulmonary disease

Care for Body and Spirit

While our hospice staff offers respectful, compassionate medical care, we also provide emotional support resources for patients and their families. When facing mortality, it is expected that many questions and feelings will arise; our team of social workers, counselors, chaplains, and other practitioners are there to offer their services when needed.

The hospice program at Davis Place proudly partners directly with Hartford, Day Kimball, and Masonicare to provide the most compassionate care available in Connecticut.

After my Grandfather's stroke, my family and I were fearful that he would never be able to live independently. With the hard work of every discipline at Davis Place, he was discharged home within a few weeks. We were supported, educated, and provided with the resources that we needed for Grandpa to safely return to the home and life he loves. Thank you to all of the staff at Davis Place for caring for each and every patient like they are a part of your own family.
